Sampson Community Theatre

The City of Clinton received a Rural Transformation grant from the North Carolina Department of Commerce Main Street and Rural Planning in 2024 for the renovation of the Theatre. The renovation project will enhance interior lighting, improve the balcony, and restore the façade and marquee. Construction for the project will begin mid-March 2025.

100 Murals in 100 Counties with Artist Max Dowdle

The Clinton Main Street Program Design Committee, in partnership with Visit Sampson NC, and the owners of Quality Printing Plus dedicated a mural of Mr. John Merrick in October 2024. Merrick was a native of Sampson County, who was an entrepreneur and founded various companies, most notably North Carolina Mutual Life Insurance Company. When visiting Downtown, stop by 401 Vance Street to check out this public art and learn more about the works of Mr. John Merrick.

ArtWay Alley

Seventeen local artists have used their talents to create mural boards under the theme of nature in Sampson County. The City received a Rural Community Capacity Implementation Grant for this alleyway beautification project which will also include lighting improvements and decorative gateway signage. This project will be similar to the DASH Way alleyway project completed in 2021 and is slated for completion during late Spring 2025.
